Boot Barn said rough winter weather has recently impacted its store sales in the fourth quarter.

In reporting its results for Q3, the Western footwear retailer offered preliminary reads for its fourth quarter, which it said has seen an 8.1 percent decline in consolidated same-store sales in the first four weeks.

Throughout January, the company said it has faced a “significant disruption” due to winter weather that “forced store closures, reduced operating hours and presented significant travel challenges for customers,” said Jim Conroy, president and chief executive officer of Boot Barn, in a call with analysts.

In the same period, same store sales in the less affected South and West regions have seen improvements from the prior quarter.

The disruption comes after several shoe retailers in November reported a hit to their Q3 sales due to warmer weather patterns in the fall.

In Q3, Boot Barn’s same store sales were down 9.7 percent, which was weaker than the 8 percent decline expected from Boot Barn management. Net sales in the third quarter were $520.4 million, up 1.1 percent from the prior year but short of the company’s previously outlined guidance of $535 million. Net income was $55.6 million, with $1.81 per diluted share, ahead of the $1.79 expected from Boot Barn and analysts.

“We almost never call out weather,” Conroy said. “In this case, we had stores closing early or not opening at all, and we had a lot of customers that just couldn’t get out and drive to stores. So those two regions, our North region and our East region, their business decelerated by four points of comp from the third quarter.”

The company’s women’s business — its most discretionary category — was down in the first four weeks of Q4 compared to Q3 as less people were prone to make “a special trip during difficult weather,” Conroy said.

But overall, the executive said business in Q4 appears to have improved since the holidays.

For the fourth quarter, Boot Barn is expecting total sales between $376 million to $386 million, for a decline of between 11.7 percent and 9.3 percent compared to the same quarter the prior year. Net income per diluted share is expected to be in the range of 82 cents to 92 cents.

In light of its third quarter results, Boot Barn downgraded its outlook for fiscal year 2024 and now expects total sales between $1.65 billion and $1.66 billion, which would represent up to a 0.4 percent growth over the prior year. That’s down from the company’s prior guidance of $1.7 billion in sales for the year. Same store sales are expected to be down between 7 percent and 6.3 percent. Net income is expected to be between $142.8 million and $145.8 million, with net income per diluted share between $4.65 and $4.75, down from a prior expectation of $5. The company also expects to open 52 new stores in 2024.

The 52nd season of the iconic game show “The Price Is Right” will feature shoes from Lâmo Footwear shoes again.

The Southern California-based brand shared today that various styles from its fall 2023 collection will appear on television’s longest-running game show through the end of the year. As the name suggests, contestants will guess the retail price of the shoes, which includes Lâmo’s Cassidy, Alma, Autumn II, Jules, Brielle and Koen.

“2023 marks the third year that Lamo products have starred on “The Price is Right,” and the fun continues,” said Jerry Breig, COO of Lâmo. “This program is a daytime TV tradition and we’re excited for the opportunity to have our own tradition within it as a brand.”

Lâmo Footwear was founded in 1995 and is best known for its authentic sheepskin shoes, with its trademark being “California Comfort.” The company — which has 4,000 retail locations worldwide — recently debuted a range of active lifestyle footwear as well.

Styles appearing on “The Price Is Right” this season:

The Cassidy ($70) features a lace-up closure with a faux fur collar and comes in six patterns.

As for the cozy Alma boot, the pull-on silhouette ($70) also boasts a faux fur lining and an embroidered trim. Available in black and brown, the style also features a crisscross lace design at the back.

The Autumn ll boot ($60) is crafted with a suede upper, a faux fur collar and a lace-up front. The moc-toe style featuring a southwest-inspired textile print is equipped with NeverWet technology. It comes in charcoal gray as well as chestnut brown.

Meanwhile, the Jules slipper ($50) has a premium suede upper and a faux fur lining. The stylish clogs are offered in two chestnut colorways.

Retailing at $60, the winter-ready Brielle lace-up boot featuring a plush collar comes in waxed chestnut as well as red plaid.

The Koen shoe ($75) is crafted with a faux wool and textile upper, a faux curly wool lining and sheepskin footbeds set atop a durable sole. The casual lace-up style is offered in black and navy.

Ugg’s stepping into fall — otherwise known as “Ugg season” — with a plush twist on its signature winter boots.

In its fall 2023 collection, the Southern California-based brand has released the new Classic Chillapeak — a style in the spirit of its Classic boots. This $250 style features the label’s smooth suede uppers in its signature chestnut-brown hue, complete with counter loops and “Ugg” nameplate logo embroidery on each shaft.

The pair’s unique coziness, however, comes from its structure and silhouette. The shoe features quilted suede toes with a rounded base, complete with matching suede midsoles and thick soles — as well as platform-style outsoles made with renewable sugarcane. For a signature Ugg touch, the shoe is also lined with the brand’s staple fluffy Uggplush upcycled wool, which trims its front shafts for an extra burst of comfort.

The shoe also comes in a dark brown “Burnt Cedar” colorway, as well, leaning into Ugg’s penchant for tonal neutrals while remaining versatile and cozy.

Outside of the shorter silhouette, the Chillapeak also comes in both colorways in a similar knee-high boot, the Chillapeak Tall. This $280 style features its namesake’s soft wool lining, trim and quilting atop thick platform soles, complete with taller shafts for fuller coverage.

In other Ugg news, the label has recently launched a new social media partnership with rapper Cardi B, spotlighting the Grammy Award-winning musician wearing its new collections to officially launch “Ugg season.” this autumn.

While arriving in Aspen on Friday, Jenner wore a retro-inspired ski-worthy outfit. The Kylie Beauty founder dressed up in a shearling and leather coat from Alaïa’s “Edition” collection. The $8,791 coat was originally designed in 1987.

Jenner wore the coat atop a beige turtleneck top and sheer black tights. The coat featured a front side zipper, white trim and a white shearling collar, also coordinating with a black faux fur bucket hat that gave a Y2K twist to her outfit.

Jenner’s outfit was complete with matching black and white-piped gloves with tasseled ties, as well as a small geometric black leather handbag.

Katie Holmes makes a neutral statement with her latest streetwear look.

The “Dawson’s Creek” actress was spotted while out and about in New York City on Tuesday wearing a chic outfit suitable for the star. For the look, Holmes donned a beige overcoat that was slightly oversized paired with a brown and tan Fair Isle printed sweater, a cream-colored turtleneck, and a pair of flowy-fitting rust corduroy trousers. She accessorized with a bright red mask and a black beanie.

For shoes, Holmes opted for a pair of sleek white sneakers that rounded out her neutral theme.

Earlier in the week, the actress proved she is the ultimate winter-fashion inspiration. She wore a dark green double-breasted coat from Mango over top a striped sweater with hits of navy, plum-toned trousers and vintage ’70s-inspired sneakers.

Holmes has a relaxed chic fashion style that’s evident on both her Instagram feed and on the streets alike. She gravitates towards easy silhouettes like slouchy swearers, durable denim, flouncy dresses and tailored separates that fit this reputation.
